How far can I upgrade this toy 3D printer?
The Easythreed machines are not good 3D printers, but it's fascinating to see how they managed to build them so cheap. Can we turn it into a sleeper by making some inconspicuous, but impactful upgrades?

The depth of field on your overhead camera is very small or thin with the camera strugling to refucus with just a small movement up and down of your hands. My suggestion is to use more light and push your asa up while decreasing your exposure. This will help increase your depth of field. Thank you for all the great info. This might be a great extruder for a multi tool head printer.

You don't even need to buy the concentrate, you can actually just make it yourself with some metals you want to use, salt and the power supply. Also leave the part soaking in water for a bit if it is likely to trap liquid so it gets all the solution out, not that it's a huge issue since this metal only method makes much more dilute solutions anyway.

To add to your point about VHB tape at 13:27, I've had VHB tape holding up a 3D printed phone mount on my car's dash for the past 3 years without any issues. The dash is close to vertical so the force acting on the tape is more of a sheer force than the ones in your test. I think that with the tape also sticking very well to the car means that VHB tape is a great option for this use and maybe better than glues. Plus VHB tape is removable-ish so for something in a car that you dont wanna use glue on its a great choice

Hey Thomas, don't know if you'll see a comment on a video this old, but, can you do a video on the new Sidewinders? They seem to be packed with much more modern tech while still being relatively competitively priced, and specifically, it'd be cool to directly compare the features of the old X1 with the features of the new X..4?(I think). Thanks

Interesting but very niche. The best results I get in terms of "special" effects is when I print in clear resin, and after curing, stain the print with alcohol inks. Add a gloss varnish to finish, and you get some pretty amazing magic looking effects. With the correct lighting, they seem to glow and/or look like magical spells.
